3rd Sunday of Easter (Year A)
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.
Then they said to each other,
"Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?"
- Luke 24:30-32
"Stay with us, risen Lord! This is also our daily longing. If you remain with us, our hearts are at peace. Accompany us, as you did the disciples of Emmaus, on our personal and ecclesial journey.
Open our eyes, so that we can recognize the signs of your ineffable presence.
Make us docile in listening to your Spirit. Nourished each day by your Body and your Blood, we will be able to recognize you and serve you in our brothers and sisters." -St. John Paul II, Homily on April 18, 1999 vatican.va
