2nd Sunday of Advent (Year A)
"A voice of one crying out in the desert:
'Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.'" - Luke 3:4
Readings: Scripture Readings on usccb.org
Entrance Antiphon: Rorate Caeli Desuper
Rorate caeli desuper, et nubes pluant justum.
(Translation: Drop down dew, you heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down the Just One.)
During the season of Advent, we use only the refrain of this Gregorian hymn as the Entrance Antiphon (except for the 3rd Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday) in order to teach this music, which is a centerpiece of Catholic Advent music. It is the Entrance Antiphon for the 4th Sunday of Advent, and used throughout the Advent Season during Vespers (Evening Prayer), but we find it important to allow the parish to learn and pray the refrain throughout Advent.
Entrance: Ready the Way
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 126 The Lord Has Done Great Things for Us
Offertory: Creator of the Stars of Night / Prepare the Way
Jerusalem, arise and stand upon the heights, and behold the joy which comes to you from God.
Communion: We Wait for You
